Questions that reveal the real price

  • Does the price cover every day of the stay, weekends included?
  • Are pickup lessons for you part of the total, and how many?
  • What does a late pickup or an early drop-off cost?
  • Is there a deposit, and is any of it refundable?
  • What happens to the price if your dog needs a few extra days?

Good questions

Before you begin.

What does a normal day look like?

Expect feeding, potty breaks, several short training blocks, long stretches of rest and a quiet evening. Ask the trainer to describe their version in detail, and listen for rest as well as work.

Will my dog be with other dogs?

It varies a lot. Some programs mix dogs for play and some keep each dog apart. Neither is wrong, but the answer should fit your dog's temperament.

How will I get updates during the stay?

Ask for the format and the rhythm before you agree. Photos, short videos and written notes are all common, and a trainer who offers them readily is usually comfortable being watched.

How do I know the stay worked?

Ask for a demonstration with you holding the leash. Skills that only work for the trainer have not been handed over yet.
