What to look for in a package
- A written plan with clear goals for each week.
- A mix of quiet and busy practice places.
- Homework between lessons that fits a normal schedule.
- Support by message between sessions, if the trainer offers it.
- A clear end point, so you know when the package is finished.

Good questions
Before you begin.
How many lessons are typical?
Six to eight weekly lessons is a common shape, though the number depends on your goals and your dog.
Can I pause a package?
Ask about the policy first. Some trainers allow a break for travel or illness and some do not.
What if progress stalls?
A good trainer adjusts the plan, shortens the steps or changes the setting. Stalls are normal and not a sign of failure.
Do I need special equipment?
Usually a leash, a flat collar or harness and small treats. Ask the trainer to explain every tool they suggest.
